Diagnostic testing is integral to the practice of Functional Medicine. We often pursue testing through a variety of means to provide clues (if not the answer) to the root cause of the condition.

There are many ways to test. Different types of tests yield different kinds of information. Blood, blood spot, urine, saliva, stool, and hair all provide information towards figuring out what is going on.

While most lab work is done via blood serum, sometimes this isn’t convenient (like when the lab draw locations shut down for non-emergent testing). Or, sometimes it’s uncomfortable to have an extensive blood draw. With that in mind, I’ve also contracted with a number of labs which provide non-invasive lab testing (bloodspot, urine, hair, saliva, and stool). Currently, I have testing available through Genova, GI Effects, Organix, Advanced Genomic Solutions, Labrix, KBMO Diagnostics, Doctor’s Data, and DUTCH.

Many of the above companies also provide some traditional blood serum testing. In addition to these, and a few others, I process testing through LabCorp.

It’s a common misconception that testing is cost-prohibitive and that without insurance it’s impossible to afford the labs that are needed. So, with this in mind, I’ve contracted with a number of labs to provide inexpensive but high quality testing to patients.

Many people find that lab costs through me are less than what their insurance covers. If lab coverage is less than 90%, it’s usually cheaper to run from my labs and then submit to insurance for partial reimbursement.

Other tests may be available. Individual tests and serum blood panels are available through a number of labs. If you’re looking for a test to be run, please send me an email and I’ll respond with its availability and pricing.
