It’s time for a change…

According to the CDC, approximately 70% of deaths are due to chronic disease. Seventy. Percent. And considering those conditions (which they list as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes), approximately 80% of them are preventable. Let that sink in for a minute. How about we expand those “chronic disease conditions” to include: Alzheimer’s, dementia, mood disorders, autoimmunity, IBS, arthritis, and a host of others?

Wouldn’t you think that in this age of technology and scientific innovation that Medicine would have figured out a way to prevent those diseases before they progress, or even treat them once they develop?

But it hasn’t.
“Medicine 2.0” is really great at treating acute conditions – life-saving techniques in emergency situations. But, let’s be honest, it sucks at fixing anything else. People trust their Dr.’s to provide what they believe is life-affirming care, but what they’re actually receiving is symptom management; as these conditions continue to slowly and silently (to a point) ravage the body.

Where are we going wrong?

The problem comes in not finding the problem. Symptom management doesn’t address the cause.
